I was so lucky to perform cantata BWV 58, Ach Gott, wie manches Herzeleid (Ah God, how much heartache…) on Bach’s Birthday! David McFerrin, Ryan Turner and I performed this very same piece about one year ago, just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Revisiting it was surreal, wonderful and heartbreaking all at once.
